Spit Happens: August 2026 News - Leaner & Cleaner
The herd has been busy again ๐ฆ. Between TinaCMS core and TinaCloud, the team shipped 16 releases and 92 changes this past month. Here's the recap:
๐ฆ TinaCMS: 8 releases, 42 changes
๐งน A big bundle-size cleanup
This one's for anyone who's ever waited a little too long on an install. monaco-editor is no longer shipped - that's 73 MB of code that was never even executed, gone (#7214). Three separate icon libraries have been collapsed down to just lucide (#7216), and headless-UI has been swapped for Radix. On top of that, upgrading graphql-codegen to v7 cut lodash from six copies down to one (#7228).
๐ผ๏ธ Media Manager gets some love
The Media Manager can now be searched and filtered by folder or file type (#7323), and there's a new Rename action for assets (#7391). Under the hood, it's now running on the v2 assets API (#7322).
๐ Astro takes the default seat
create-tina-app now scaffolds an Astro project by default (#6961), and there's a new tina-markdown web component to go along with it (#7392).
๐ Security & stability
The Cloudinary search expression is now properly escaped (#7394), and Vite has been moved off its end-of-life 4.x line (#7297).
โ๏ธ TinaCloud: 8 production releases, 50 PRs + 32 dependency updates
๐ The AuthKit migration is almost here
The WorkOS AuthKit migration is closing in on the finish line! The dashboard now runs against AuthKit end to end (#3893), including public routes for logged-out visitors (#3930) and invite acceptance (#3993, #4026).
๐ก๏ธ Tighter account & org controls
Self-signup is now protected by a Turnstile captcha (#3923), and org admins have finer control over role and app assignment changes (#4066).
๐ผ๏ธ More media fixes
Editors can rename media assets directly (#3921), media committed in a branch's first push is now staged correctly instead of getting skipped (#3979), and the media library can be filtered by file type (#4013).
๐งน Dependency housekeeping
Ten unused content-api dependencies were dropped (#4004), along with a fast-xml-parser patch to keep sst deploys running smoothly (#4046, #4030).
